Seen a dozen movies of psychotic killers. This movie is about an ugly madman who holds his victims as captives and torturing them slowly in a dark basement. It seems like every other cam driven torturing porn movie but it has an insightful conscious concept better than other average horror movies.
9. Dark Water (2005):
It is a horror thriller starring Jennifer Connelly and Tim Roth. It's a remake of 2002 Japanese movie bearing the same name. This movie is about a mother and her daughter who moves down in a building haunted by ghosts of former residents.
8. The Shrine (2010):
When a young American tourist disappears in Europe, a group of journalists finds some links related to his disappearance with a small village in Poland. They encounter the bitter truth of ritualistic sacrifices during the investigation and becomes the next victim of it.
7. Mirrors (2008):
An ex-cop and his family are kept as captives in their own house by an evil force who targets them through mirrors and using the mirrors as a gateway to enter their lives.
6. The Uninvited (2009):
This movie is a remake of a Korean film "A Tale of Two Sisters". It is about a girl named Anna who is admitted to a mental hospital after her's mother's death. She is shocked when she returns and finds her father engaged with another women.

Takashi Shimizu a specialist Japanese director in horror movies returns again with a terrifying movie "The Grudge 2" sequel to the 2004 hit "The Grudge". A young women is targeted by the evil curse that even afflicted her sister. The revengeful spirit terrorizes everyone who crosses its dark path.
4. The Evil Dead (1982):
A debut movie from Sam Raimi who shot on 16mm in the woods of Tennessee. Five friends vacationing in the woods lost their way and unknowingly releases the evil spirits who possesses the flesh.

This movie was a great success for Steven Spielberg being its first as a producer. A middle class family living in a peaceful town is haunted by a television set summoning the youngest son of the family.

Based on a Best-Seller and Catholic sanctioned exorcism, this movie was on a real incident occurred in 1949 with a 14 year old boy. A teenage daughter of a famous actress is possessed by an unknown demonic entity and the mother finds two priests to save her life.
